I have no problem for interval ascending and descending but I really struggle with harmonics. I always confuse P4 and P5. I'm able to identify the two pitches but when I sing them they are inverted. Someone has an idea to help? Or songs that help memorise them?
I think everyone finds harmonic intervals more challenging than melodic intervals. Do you have an instrument that you can practise playing the intervals harmonically so you can sing the notes and check you have sung them accurately?
The best way is not to try to identify two pitches separatly. Try to hear how they sound together. P5 sounds very clear and empty, P4 sounds hard and rough.
Anyway you can always try to put an imaginable third between them:) If it's possible to build a triad, you hear P5. If not, P4.
@Azet Aya it's what I've been doing but when I'm not sure I try to separate them. Will try triad building, seems like a good idea. @Joe Brewer yes, and I find it easier when I'm using my guitar. Maybe I'm more used to it..

Space Description
A space for sharing and discussing the songs you use for remembering ascending and descending intervals.
All songs are welcome but those that have the interval at the very start of the melody or at the start of the verse or chorus are preferred.
Eventually there will be a poll and we will vote for the most popular interval songs and put them in a big list for everyone to use as a reference.
