I've read a lot about this in various places. In my life experiences I've met so many talented people at many different things. Talent is only valuable when it's worked. One can be anything but don't be lazy and don't walk in fear. Yeah, It's kinda scary to get up in front of a room full of people and play when you're not sure how good or bad you are at it. Still gotta do it. You got to do the work and the thing that you have the most trepidation about. No easy road and no short cuts.
