Can't wait for everyone to get better at the shortcuts and get destroyed! 😀 Honestly at some point it's a lot about knowing the keyboard, more than actually answering correctly, but still I find it to be a really good exercise to anchor these things in my brain as much as possible, as they don't feel natural to me (hopefully that can become a reality some day).
Yes 10 fingers on a QWERTY keyboard can accurately put in a lot of answers in a minute. At this point it is 100% a lack of practice for my ears on this contest. I have only about three more instruments to complete my collection and then all of my earnings can go to contests again!
@Ilija Nedelkovski Oh yes, me too, it's very punishing. You also wouldn't like to press the wrong note when playing actual music. You wouldn't put you hand on the ground while at full speed on a bike, because it would hurt. So the fact that it is painful is probably the best way to unlearn a bad habit?
I wouldn't say it is a bad habit, but rather a lack of sensible reaction.I will often panic in finding the answer, and end up either pressing the wrong key,or asking myself what even is correct 😅
For me besides not messing up shortcuts, is a question of reflex. I don´t think I have good reflexes even though I am quite successful at the sight reading. But I think I am that successful there because of my classical training as a pianist. I do think if I had better reflexes I could do even better. At some point you don´t really think about the answer but just about the right shortcuts. Another think that happens to me is that I let my eyes trick me faster than my ears and I just press the first random answer I see before even listening. :/
i know i said differently in the past, but i actually changed my mind and don’t think it’s a matter of reflexes, you do need better ear (with respect to a task at hand) to score higher. i was trying to beat Mark yesterday at intervals with not much luck then i decided to try his advice to practice with the metronome: turns out these rates are much slower than my fastest reflex is. what slows me down is some of the intervals that take me more time to figure out than the metronome beat. with better uniformity across intervals it should be totally possible to score higher. so the reflex issue comes into play when you greatly speed up to catch up on intervals that you know really well.
I have noticed a weird behaviour in my mind that i'm really fascinated of,and i really found it out in the melody playground contest.I tend to process the notes so quickly, and yet the very same second,i forget half of them, and sometimes on twice the speeds it would be more likely to guess the answer correctly for me.A similar thing in the olympics, during the time i take to find the right answer on the screen, still a second in question,i forget what i listened to,and that leads me to making the dumbest mistakes eg. A perfect fifth is played ,and i press a m2.Would you by chance know what is going on,and how can i fix it?I atleast know i have short term memory loss 😅.
@Dima G I think both are true at the same time, a solid ear and solid knowledge of the shortcuts are required at the same time. So yes, shortcuts memory is a bit useless, but the game also works on the other aspect at the same time.
Hey you can't beat me using my own advice, lol! (Just kidding, well done!)
as long as i know, there is only on olympics, but i guess it applies on all of the contests-it is located right next to the timer left,as a little keyboard icon
@Maciej Jurynczyk Press the tab button while you are playing the game and it will show the keyboard shortcuts. Generally it starts from the left middle side of a QWERTY keyboard (eg. for inversions, root is a, 1st is s, 2nd is d, and 3rd is f)
