looks like chordelius is one of the shortest games here with around 120 levels. most others are 170-200+

I understood each game just keeps on going? I'm currently on Level 257 of Chordelius and on a percentile of 99.75% – so I'm not at the top! On another note, Invertionist at Level 120 has just introduced the 'Minor 7th, 9th' chord – a five note chord, so there are now five possible inversions of a chord for the first time...

Yes, they do keep going. From the moment you get the red star you are presented with a random set of questions from all the previous levels, I think. I use it as a 'maintenance' workout. By the way, I'm on level 300 of chordelius and that puts me on 99.78%!! I wonder how many members are above us...😦

@Cuantas Vacas do you do it almost every day or how come you’ve reached those levels?

@Cuantas Vacas That's interesting to hear. My best game is Interval Barks on Level 586 at 99.94%. I'm pretty good at continuing to move through the Levels but I've been on 99.94% since May last year! Presumably there must be ToneGymers higher than me who also keep moving forward...

@Douglas Noble same question, are you doing interval barks every day? i suspect there might not be that many people above you.

following some super simple math, if there are 10000 players, there would only be 6 people above, but i doubt there are that many users, and also the way that percentage is calculated is curious, new registered users don't seem to dilute that number, otherwise you'll still see yours climbing, even if those other people are also getting better.

instead, there is probably a formula that involves normal distribution at play, which means the amount of people you are competing with goes down very non-linearly as you approach 100%. it might very well be there is one or two people higher than you at this game

Just speaking from my own experience, Rhythmania, Inversionist, and Calibrator all get to the red star LONG before level 170.

@ Dima G. Thanks for that. I don't actually do Interval Barks every day but every so often I will have an extended session just on Interval Barks and do 20 or so Levels. I can complete a Level of this in less than 2 minutes whereas – I have said this before elsewhere – a Level of Scale Spy, for example, can take me 20 minutes. Or longer! I have also wondered about how the percentages are calculated – what you say makes sense.

Postscript... I am now on Level 781 of Interval Barks but still on 99.94% – where I have been since 17/05/23 when I was on Level 334! On the plus side, I am now 'better than 100% of users'! See screenshot. Despite this, I am in awe of other ToneGymer's scores and performances in Olympics, Melody Playground and Sight-reading Playground...

avi G any tips for notationist? I'm around 100 and I'm struggling with 7th chords.

@Lucas Guimaraes I found chords difficult, though it's geting easier. whyat I do is to remember shapes of shaps and flats for example
if the (4 note) chord has:
both a sharp and a flat is always aug7 (see image)
a flat on note 2 and 4 it's always m7
a flat on note 3 and 4 is dim
a double flat on top is dim
etc.
get the shapes into your mind and you'll recognize most chords.
I hope I was clear in my explanation
