I sometimes mistake the octave for a fifth, what can I do to distinguish the intervals certainly?

More practice! Have you got songs that you associate with the octave and fifth? If so, it might help to sing them to get the sounds in your head. This is a common issue with these intervals

Yes, for the fifth, I have star wars and for the octave I have somewhere over the rainbow

Superman can also be used for the perfect fifth. It’s a very anthemic interval. When you’re not sure, try singing the songs for each interval and go for which ever feels right. Try not to rush though and don’t beat yourself over it off you get it wrong - just enjoy and accept the process

Try singing along. That helps me hear the difference.

I do drills on the intervals: playing them on the piano and singing along ascending and descending. Somehow I feel like with the fifth I immediately want to sing it descending again after hearing it ascending. Octave is just large distance to sing so I feel that in my voice

A Space Oddyssey for the P5, Amazing Grace for P4, the others are easier once these 2 intervals are secure:

The guitar riff from bulls on parade by rage against the machine is just an octave over and over
