Hi, in some games I would love to have the capability to skip certain levels, everyone has to start from level one which can be kind of too easy and repetitive for people who already have prior experience with playing an instrument or ear training. It would be good for them to have the ability to skip through 10 lessons ahead? Thank you tonegym!
Replying to Mirth: Thanks for your reply! It's true that repeating is good, but I don't think everyone will want it. I still disagree with you because I don't think everyone come into tonegym all from a blank slate, there are a lot of different softwares for ear training, and many people might have already learned a lot of things from other softwares like ear master or various android/iphone apps. They might not want to redo certain exercises they have already done hundreds or thousands of times already in the past with other apps, and skip to a higher level which they have not practiced in those other apps.
An extreme example of this would be, maybe a professional pianist come to this app and play the notationist game, would they have good practice if they spend 20 or 30 levels doing 1 or 2 notes on a score? It would be much better warm up practice for them if they directly skip to something harder. But because it takes so long for them to get to that game level, it makes such clients give up on the software. I honestly feel like if tone gym can change this, there would be a lot more users.
Another analogy for this, would be you were schooled in another country where math is much harder than in some other countries, and you learned algebra and multiplication and division already, but when you immigrate to another country where math is taught at a lower level, where kids were doing addition and subtraction, that sometimes wouldn't be good practice for the child because they are way past learning addition and subtraction. And in 5 years, the kids who didn't immigrate are usually much better at math than the kid who immigrated, by a large amount, because they kept progressing in their studies instead of reviewing content that they learned 10 years ago.
One way to do this would be perhaps to give clients a section where they can do a skill test for each game mode, and if they pass it they would be able to skip 10 levels ahead. I seriously think this would make Tonegym a much better website.
