I've been at it for over a year. Some days are better than others. Some days I pick up intervals and chord progressions fairly well, some days...Well, I should be deaf. Doesn't matter. Think of any day you try as a win. It's not about whether someone else is better than you. It's about are you better than you were compared to yesterday, last week or last year. I'm 63 and a competative personality I've got. I had to come to this realization. It frees up your mind to make progress however slow and for me.....It's slow. Rocks pick it up faster than I do, ok. Kill the inner critic and get back in the arena. Respect is had for the one that doesn't quit because that one hasn't failed. You can do this....I know I'm gonna until nature or the good Lord tell me otherwise and they'll both be in for a hell of a fight.
on the contrary! learning new things, especially in old age, is very important to combat cognitive decline.
