ToneGym Tier List
I was finally able to reach 95+ percentile in every game, and after spending countless hours doing so, I feel the need to share my thoughts 😅. What do you think? Which games are excluded from your daily workout?
profile
This list represents my progression over time. The games labeled under “the best” I progressed quickly. “very good” a decent amount of progression, “fine” it wasn’t until the games under “the best” and “very good” was at high levels I started progression in games under “fine” at a decent rate. The “meh” games are hard mode games and I still struggle a bit.

Damn you are a beast 😃 The only two games I was able to reach 90+ percentile in are Notationist and Inversionist. Almost there (85+) for Rhytmania, then go (70+) Calibrator, Melodix, Route VI, Departurer, and Rhythmic Parrot.

@Igor Is haha thanks 😄. Daily grind pays off. I am sure you will also get there soon. Notationist and Invertionist were also my fastest 95+. Unfortunately I hit a brick wall at both. I am unable to detect min/maj intervals in Notationist and the differences in Invertionist became too small for my crude guitarist's ears 😂.

Which mic do u use for barks? 😊

@dominic kid I use my iPhone 13 mic for all games

@Dominic Kis I use very underwhelming headset Logitech H390. Not that I don't have better equipment but with just one USB it is super convenient and easy to set-up, zero latency and works perfectly fine.

I gave up on barks because it didn't seem to recognize my voice. Since it's @Petr Hartmann giving barks a thumbs up, I'll check it out again.

Inversionist and Route VI are my Waterloos. I have not progressed at all. I'm still on Level 9 for Route VI. And I think hearing chord progressions is important. Good thing I'm stubborn...

I have not been able to use Interval Barks at all. Have tried in different ways. Get the same score every time. Two right everything else wrong. Still on level 1 multiple tickets to support on it. No resolution

@Terri Winters , @Kathy Anderson I think TG should write some guide with recommendation as these kind of problems appear in the feed very frequently. What gear and how to use, recommended browser and settings... a lot of things can be set badly and people will blame the games (no, you are still broken, Solfègiator 😂).

It is such a shame that Interval Barks isn't working for folks. It is top tier for sure! One of the games that has definitely helped me a lot, but having 4 or five game that focus on intervals makes it easy to see progress with each, they build on each other very well. Interval Barks is the one without multiple choice, so you really gotta figure it out and be sure, so it gives me lots of opportunity be engrain my interval examples and find new ones.

Only differences I'd make are putting Rhythmania and RHythmica Parrot up there as well, but as a drummer those games are probably more important to me than many. Level 91 or so of Rhythmic Parrot has one stage that was very intense, which is rare as a lot I fly through. But damn did it feel good hitting that rhythm when I had no lives or safeties left.

Thanks @Petr Hartmann I'll try some different setups.

@Nicolae Orengo great point! I like the different perspective of Interval Barks - you are not evaluating different samples, you have to produce the note yourself. My brain struggled to handle it at first 😅. But now I feel it reinforces the abilities from other Interval games and is a perfect addition to the gym lineup.

I am progressing in Rhytmania fairly regularly - the only challenges were introduction of 7/8 and 6/8 but it is not that hard with a bit of practice. But Parrot grinds my gears 😂. Of course it makes sense it is your strong suit as a drummer 😎.

Interval Bark is working for me. I think a lot of people's egos are hurt and they're looking for an excuse.

*Puts on sunglasses*

But that's just my opinion.

i respect your opinion but i think you are just lucky to not be experiencing any technical difficulties with the singing games. Interval barks works well for me but solfegiator and melody jay are broken. I have never gotten a single correct note on either of them and i believe the game is not registering my voice at all. This makes no sense because interval barks picks up my voice just fine. I’ve tried on my phone and laptop with and without my airpods, just red x’s every time.

also it’s shocking that 95% in every game doesn’t even get you to 2 mil tpi

@will ward thanks! About technical issues: try to find the source of your problems (easy to say). I think a lot of people reported problems on iOS. Have you tried Windows or Android device? Try to record your voice in any app and play it back - your mic might be defective. Try another browser application - if it also doesn't work, it might be some permission problem. I know I am mentioning just the obvious... but the issue is usually not that complex. But the fact you are saying Barks are working fine for you is weird.

About TPI - well the fastest way to gain TPI is to power through your strongest exercise since the rewards are somewhat exponential. It is tempting to go this way but I did the opposite and tried to keep the percentile similar. But yeah I agree... it makes me admire diamond users even more 😂

@Lavelle Romain @Petr Hartmann I've been struggling to get good sound settings on my iPhone! I have the exact same one, Lavelle. Any tips on getting sound out consistently??
profile
@Petr Hartmann Regarding Rhythmic Parrot, in the 90s it starts throwing these very fast, oddly syncopated 16ths in, some randomly an isolated subdivision of a triplet, in 7/8. I find those the hardest to deal with so far. I only passed today cause it didn't throw one at me on the third try lol

@Json Mondesir sorry I'm not an Apple guy myself. But I would guess the same things apply? Try different browser, check permissions...

Barks works for me now on my laptop with my brothers headset - Petrs Logitech recommendation is still a great alternative :)

@Json Mondesir hey, the app runs poor on Microsoft edge, Google chrome works way better.

@will ward maybe try 98 percentile every game 😎

love the ranking! it's similar to mine, except i put Route IV in the S tier category (it becomes bullet proof with the right approach and also is applicable in real life), and downgraded Melody Jay to gutter. Once you hit 8 notes per round, it becomes a memory game for nonsensical melodies. i disabled it. Same with inversionalist — nonsensical at higher levels.

@Lavelle Romain I typically have to play another video on YouTube and dance between tabs until it works on Chrome and Safari... not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also, have you tried saving it to your homepage through the share option? Looks amazing, but I get no sound at all unless I play a YouTube video from the learning section. If this were fixed or I could find a solution, I'd probably be truly addicted just carrying my headphones everywhere ha.

solfegge seems like it may be fixed!

@Json Mondesir idk, is your silent mode off?
