hello guys, i was wondering how y’all differentiate root, 1st, 2nd inversions for diminished chords. i find it very difficult to pitch it. for the other ones like major and minor, i usually just listen to the lowest note and “solfarise” it. but i really cannot do the same with diminished i don’t know why.

i would love you guys to share some strategies 😊 thanks

I guess it's because even if they are played as tritones you'll probably perceive them as tetrads. And these are symmetrical structures consisting only of stacked minor thirds. So they don't really have gravity, pulling the ear into a specific direction - thus no key center by themselves, which will feel like home.
