Producer, songwriter, and electric guitar devotee who's been making music since he was three years old, Dan Zipori built a career out of that early instinct, moving from teenage rock bands to professional production, before channeling thirteen years of built-up inspiration into his latest album, written, recorded, and released within six months, on his 50th birthday. Dan Zipori is this month's ToneGym Hero!
I started making music when I was 3 years old, strumming on my dad’s guitar, improvising on my grandma’s upright piano, recording my voice to a tape deck while banging on a plastic cup with a spoon. When I was a teen I started writing songs and performing with my Rock band. Later on it became my profession as a producer.
I love scuba diving, hiking, photography, home gardening, blogging and cooking.
I’m surprisingly good photography. Discovered it only in recent years when I got somewhat burnt out from music production and felt I needed a non-musical hobby.
If I could play or create with any artist I’d probably choose Sabrina Carpenter cause I’m in love with her :). Otherwise probably Robert Smith, Devin Townsend or Jim Morrison.

My favorite instrument is the Electric Guitar. I think it has a vast palette of sounds, expressions and emotions, ranging from the softest and deepest to harsh erupting aggression.
I try to maintain a daily routine of meditation, exercise, practice, writing, playing and working to keep the creative juices flowing, as well as a well balanced diet and social activities for my mental health and well being.
Music is the way I breath. It’s not always easy but there’s no substitute for it and the creation process is even more important than the final result. There’s always so much to learn, develop, discover and refine.

I can’t possibly think of one song that would qualify as “The soundtrack of my life”, as it’s so colorful and ever changing. Maybe one of the long ones by Dream Theater like “A View from the Top of the World”.
My favorite feature on ToneGym is “Compare TPI”. It keeps me motivated. When I first started my aim was to be better than 90% of users. My appetite has grown since then and I made it to 99.7%.
I’m always looking forward to my next creation, next song, next album. My last album, released on October 2025, was an eruption of pain and inspiration that was built up for 13 years. I wrote, produced and recorded it in 6 months after my divorce and it was released on my 50th birthday.
