Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for your continued feedback and for sharing your ideas to improve the platform. Adding a bass clef option to Solfègiator is an interesting suggestion, and we’ll keep it in mind as we plan future updates.

While we can’t promise immediate changes, your input helps us shape ToneGym to better meet the needs of all musicians. Thanks for your understanding and dedication!

See you at the gym!
Cheers,

One small thing that I hope would be quite a lot easier than duplicating notationist and making a bass clef game would be to offer an option under setting for using the bass clef in Solfègiator.

I am a bass trying to learn to sight sing, and although I can sight sing now in treble thanks to lots of solfege scales and Solfègiator, but bass clef is still much harder, as the training does not exist.

Oops, I shared this link on the community and others replied, instead of just reading what was written, and the last to post from me were from someone else...
I apologize for this and will not post a link again in the future.

I do hope you are still considering this, and hopefully moving it higher up in your priority list, for now that I am a paying member, I see this lack as perhaps the only issue that really affects training, and many in the community agree with me.

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Benjamin,
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing how important the bass clef is for your training!

We understand how its absence in routine games can feel like a limitation, especially given its significance in modern music.

Currently, bass clef practice is available in the Sight-Reading Trainer in the Sight-Reading Playground, which you can access separately from your routine exercises. While it doesn’t integrate naturally into workouts yet, we appreciate your suggestion to include it in games or as part of a contest, this is an interesting idea.

That said, due to our limited resources, implementing new features like this takes time as we focus on higher-priority updates. We’ll keep your suggestion in mind for future developments.

Thank you again for your thoughtful input—we truly value it!

See you at the gym!

Oh wait, after reading the previous responses more carefully, I do see that there's option in the note playground to learn more about the bass cleff. Will it come up naturally as I progress, or do I have to click on it separately from the workout?

This is problematic! I was thinking you guys were going to introduce the bass cleff after a few more series of workouts for the timed note identification games or something! I just randomly came across this petition to have you guys try and work in a game or something for the bass cleff and thought I'd want to encourage you guys to work on it! I do this as a warm up to my music production (along with soundgym), and I'm honestly shocked you guys don't have games with the bass cleff. Even in the identify the chord progression game you guys are inverting the heck out of chords and randomly involving bass notes as the lifesaver feature AND showing the bass note (root note) of the chord progression in the answer! This isn't a deal breaker, but I am sad that I have to try and go elsewhere to hone my expertise on bass notes and their placement. Even in modern music, check out the Track On My Knees by Skeler. He has this cool bass Piano chord Progression that actually transitions into a bass synth throughout the song!! I'm loving tone gym, but I was kind of disappointed to find out bass cleff games are not part of the routine exercises, or even an option apparently!

Thank you for considering this suggestion, and I realize that the bass clef is available at the sight reading playground trainer, I have used this in the past, though I personally do not need much bass clef training... However that trainer does not have levels that build knowledge, and is really not as good of a way to train as the games. It does not encourage coming back and does not that have the game feel that makes fast, fun learning possible. Perhaps if a Bass clef contest was introduced, that might have the same effect of encouraging users to learn.

Hi Benjamin,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and suggestions!

We appreciate the time you took to provide such a detailed explanation. You’ve raised some excellent points regarding the inclusion of the bass clef and other clefs like tenor and alto, as well as the challenges surrounding game updates and user preferences.

We’re happy to let you know that bass clef training is already available in the Sight-Reading Trainer in the Sight-Reading Playground. This feature allows you to practice bass clef reading, along with other clefs, in a flexible and customizable way, catering to musicians across different instruments and needs.

That said, your suggestion for a dedicated game focusing on additional clefs is noted and appreciated. We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand the platform, and your feedback helps shape future updates. Rest assured, we’ll consider your idea as we plan future enhancements.

Thank you again for your input.

See you at the gym!

The lack of the bass clef has been complained about on the community for as long as I have been here (about a year now) and I really see why this is. Firstly the Bass clef is the second most popular clef and everyone who plays the piano needs to know it, not only pianists but also bassists, cellists, conductors, and composers. This lack probably is holding back some of ToneGym's potential as a universal music training platform.
I see why this change has not been implemented though, as changing any game requires resetting the TPI from that game, which is greatly frowned upon by users. Also some musicians such as violinists, and many other instruments in a higher register, would feel that they would be wasting their time to learn it.

That is why I would like to suggest a new game similar to notationist, but instead training the bass clef and maybe the tenor and alto clefs as well. Than no scores would need reset and also there would be no need for musicians who feel that they do not want to train the bass clef to feel stuck training what they will not use.
