it's likely because it cycles through voicings and you get used to some, but not the others. that's why i think singing the root note is the best reality check, because then you know if you are actually hearing the root note, or some voice that bamboozles you instead. that's the hardest part of this exercise.

Thanks for that tip @Dima G will focus more on ID'ing the root.
