Help -- I'm finding it impossible to distinguish between P4 and P5 in Intervalis, when they are played at the same time, even though it's showing up on level 2, so clearly ToneGym thinks it should be easy! Any tips?

For harmonic intervalls, it takes longer to recognize them. Try to hum the tones at the same time as the intervall is played and listen for consonance or dissonance. If the tone is part of the harmonic intervall it will fit in nicely when hummed. Also a harmonic fifth interval is used in most rock music as powerchord accompagniment (no third) whereas a fourth harmonic intervall has a medieval feel and was later for some periods even shunned from classical music. Try to accompany yourself with 4th / 5th harmonic intervalls humming a simple melody and notice the differen feel. Be very patient and listen/play/sing a lot.

Smoke On The Water riff is a good reference for harmonic P4 imho

P4: you will hear “Here comes the bride”!
👍

P5 Ascending: John Williams’ Star Wars (Main theme first interval)

P5 Descending: John Williams’ Superman (Main theme first interval change)
👍

Thank me later 😉
I’m stuck on a ABRSM grade 5 interval question. I need some advice too.
I don’t know how to find intervals for ABRSM on this app
I use 3 intervals from Somwhere Over the Rainbow

Some-where (over the rainbow) = octave
blue-birds (fly) = maj6
and-the (dreams) = min6

One songwriter, one smash hit, one massive rejection, and then Miley Cyrus made it iconic. The story behind 'We Can't Stop' is a wild masterclass in how the music industry actually works 🎤💡
He Wrote 'We Can't Stop' for Rihanna. She Said No.
