Wow, I just discovered that when playing Notationist, if you have your piano attached C4 corresponds with unison, D4 with 2ed, E4 with 3rd and so on. I was always struggling with the mouse to click the correct difference on time.
I could swear that one time, way in the past, I was able to use my MIDI controller. Something must have gotten set, somewhere along the line, as I'm not asked to use it (kind of like using the microphone, which it asked about every time). I found this in the Help Center: Can I connect my MIDI / How do I connect my MIDI?
Absolutely! Currently, the games that support MIDI connections are Melody Hunter, Notationist, Sight Reading Playground, Piano Recorder, and Interval Memorizer. To connect your MIDI, simply plug in your MIDI device to your computer. Once your MIDI device is connected, it should be automatically recognized by the system. If it's not, check to ensure the correct drivers are installed. Start your selected game and enjoy!
I had some problems with my old MIDI controller years ago, as ToneGym started implementing this feature progressively. If you add OS and browser constant updates, and hardware slowly getting obsolete (as my controller was during that period of time), anything can happen!
What I suggested was getting in touch with the support team via submitting a ticket (once you have checked FAQ section up and found no useful info, which you did). In the form you'll be asked to fill you can explain in detail what the problem is, and provide information about your controller, browser, computer... Staff will reply as soon as they are able, and they'll do their best to help and find a solution.
Why You Need to Learn a Second Instrument Right Now
When's the last time you picked up an instrument that wasn't your main one?
New on the blog: why learning a second instrument might be the best thing you do for your playing this year. Better timing, deeper musicality, even a break for your body from repetitive strain.
Guitarists picking up harmonica, drummers sitting at a piano, singers learning the basics of a corded instrument. It all feeds back into what you already play.
@BetoOjeda, creo que es hora de que se grabe jugando. Hay algo más allá del oído para estos puntajes. Yo quiero ver la técnica de digitación también, y qué teclado usa.... 72 puntos es una marcianada.
Now I’m curious how the Apple Magic Keyboard ‘shortcuts’ work. I typically point and click using the mouse or directly on iPad. Is there a section in Tone Gym that explains this or are folks just setting up their own shortcuts?
@Ken Wilkens If you usually play these games on a computer, a small section should appear before you start that shows you the shortcuts for each game. Just check them and make sure they work properly on your keyboard. This allows for much faster reaction times compared to a cell phone or an iPad in the Progressions game.
