How am I supposed to know the correct chord in Chordelius? Since C6 is exactly the same as the 1st inversion of Am7! No base tone is given.

Hey TT, inversions aren't really trained in Chordelius. You're right, they both share the same notes, the fact that you can recognize the quality of the chord, either C6 or Am7, is far more valuable than hitting the right name for it. Nonetheless, they do sound a little different if you identify each note from the bottom-up. Takes a bit of practice, but try playing it down on a keyboard, you're closer to differentiating them than you think. 👍

hello T T What level are you in that game? stil didn't get there but, they didn't put the lowest note on A for Am7 or C for C6? even if it's in the same octave, they should make it lower than the rest otherwise it's like you said! it's exactly the same harmony (or chord) and it's not wrong to say it's a Am7 or C6, The bass is always the Boss XDD

Nikolay, I enjoyed reading about you and listening to some of your music. I have recently been enjoying an album titled Beethoven Blues by Jon Batiste. You might find that interesting since Jon is blending genres of music. Cheers!

I tried the sight singing game. Me and my students were struggling and decided to test it with a piano and a digital keyboard - same results. I even tried using a microphone with the keyboard, still showing that the notes are inaccurate. I just want to report the experience.

I Found the 1-10 Levels from route VI much more difficult than the 10+. There may be many reasons:
1st They are indeed easier because there's more chord variety, like minor too diminished to major chords and this way it's easier to spot the right answer because the early used only major chords.
OR
2nd I got better and something made click on my mind xD

This is not a critique, just coffee talk 😊

Hi, what are some good training methods to understand chords?

I think you need to narrow down your question and give far more detail as to where you are and what you hope to accomplish. This community is about ear training but your question seems to go well beyond.

I play piano, understanding chords at some level from a book is nothing compared to making good use of them when improvising for example.

Even once you clarify, I probably can’t help because I am novice, but I am confident some here will be helpful.
