How do you remember the tunes in the melody contest? I can either remember the first bit or the last bit and my brain fills in how I think the resto of the melody should go :(

After 26, I don't! For me, before that, it's forming chord patterns as fast as I can in my head and outputting what I hear.
You're doing the right thing as far as I'm concerned. It probably just requires more practice than you can get with your tonecoins.

I was 'manufactured' with that feature quite boosted -maybe to mask the lack of way many others. However, I had to do many 'dictation' exercises during the time I attended music theory classes, back in the Cretaceous, in order to get the context in which such skill can develop into something (musically) useful...

There's a chord progression quietly taking over pop music right now, and once you see it laid out like this, you'll hear it everywhere 🎹👀

Wow! Great work!
Unlocking the Emotional Power of Chordal Harmony
Quick myth worth killing: minor chords aren't sad on their own.

Listen to the post-chorus of Heatwave by Martha & the Vandellas. It's I - V7 - vi, and it's pure joy. The minor chord is sitting right there, it just never gets a chance to be sad, because the I - V7 in front of it is too confident.

Now flip it. The verse of Wild Horses is just I - iii. Two chords, starting on a major tonic, and it aches. Nothing resolves, so nothing settles.

The feeling isn't in the chord. It's in what comes before and after it.

New post on the blog goes through cadences, borrowed chords (that iv minor and the wild III7 in Creep), and a handful of progressions with the emotions they tend to carry.

This learning curve is Himalayan. I’ve been above 89.5% for over a year and just can’t reach 90%. Right now I’m at 89.9%. Been above 88.7% for months. I hit 90% for one day and fell back.

I guess it's just because the program is evolving - you're moving forward, and it's throwing more challenges your way! )

it's like tunning cello strings, one goes up and that makes all the others go a tiny little bit down.
