It'd be cool to have a training game like Route VI but containing secondary dominants and/or different inversions. Anything like that in the works?

These two skills are separated between our two games - Route VI and Inversionist.

If you'd like to explore both these skills together, you might find the Progression Generator tool useful:

The problem with Route VI at higher levels, with all the chords still in root position, you just have to listen to the lowest note to identify the chord ... but that is not a very good representation of what happens in real music, as inversions are commonly used even with quite simple chords. I would really like to see inversions coming into Route VI to identify the difference between a IV6 chord and a vi, for example, in the context of a progression.

... and then there are all the other possibilities of non-diatonic chords used as pivots, such as o7 chords, etc

This idea could be further extended to identifying jazz chord progressions ... a particular weak spot for me!

I would also like the idea of inversions for higher levels of Route VI.
I already gained a lot of benefit of the game so far, but with added inversions it would really take it to another level.

I agree with you both, which is why I posed the question. The game is great and I think should stay as is. But like you said, @Anthony Jones, to be able to hear the difference between IV6 and a vi is highly practical skill to develop. Secondary dominants are extremely common in all music and even keeping those in root position for sake of consistency within the game would be a great addition. Now, what if there were certain games which could only be unlocked after skills were developed in isolation through other games? For example, getting to level 100 in RouteVI and Level 50 in Inversionist would unlock the potential for a game that synthesizes the two skills with Secondary dominants/inversions/non-diatonic chords, etc. Personally, I don't know where I'd ever have to identify or be able to apply using an Fmaj7sus4 in 2nd inversion, especially is isolation, where I could immediately apply non-diatonic chords, passing chords, and inversions in real time to most everything I do.
