Fairly new here and I thought I'd ask for some advice; I'm a percussionist and was delighted to find that they included a marimba (it's not a xylophone) as one of the instruments you can work with, but I'm torn between practicing with that and the piano since the latter is used for all of my aural theory tests for uni. I've been trying to split my time between the two but whenever I switch I notice a slight drop in my ability due to the different timbres and I usually have to go back a couple levels to relearn things with both instruments. Should I continue this way or just pick one?

Pick one, the basic midi "piano" it will be better to get used to a single timbre, and you will ace the exams with that sound in your head, the various "instruments" are intended for folks who've mastered all the levels and looking for additional challenge, I strongly suggest to focus on a single timbre.

When you practise your real percussion instrument you develop your aural skills with that one. When you go to the gym here practise the piano with the specific goal of those exams.

I agree. Stick with a sound that doesn't distract. I use the basic piano for everything.
