How are you guys and gals getting on with some of the exercises? Some of them really frustrate me as there is no frame of reference of where the 1 might be... for instance in Melodix, I was tapping out what I thought was correct but because the the first note you hear has no indication of the one I find it really difficult in this instance it was starting on beat 2. If you have no statement of the 1, what are you to do?

Hope this makes sense...

Hey, all I can say is that so far in all my games of Melodix it has played a tune of 4 notes (I think a couple times it was 3 with the last note being a half note) but the first note is given to you (as a reference pitch) on the step sequencer type thing in the place of the 1 and you have to fill in the notes beats 2, 3 and 4. Also, at the beginning of each question, when the tune is playing with the step sequencer sorta greyed out there's a playhead which goes across along with the tune which should give an indication of what's going on time wise - hope this helps!

I don't think this is what you meant but I've been thinking about this and I think it would be a good idea for them to play a 1-4-5 cadence or the root note at the start to establish the key instead just playing some notes and then showing the first note on the step sequencer. This would allow you to hear the melody within the context of the key better.

How do you mean, where the 1 might be?
